TESTIMONIALS

Joyce is an amazing teacher and we're so thankful to be with her! She broke my daughter’s plateau with clear strategies that made progress obvious even to me. She now enjoys practicing more, and plays with a lot more confidence at performances.

- Maria

As an adult beginner, I never felt intimidated. Joyce’s lessons have significantly improved both my sound and setup, and I truly value the clear communication and structure she brings to every session.

Teaching Philosophy

"I believe that effective string pedagogy requires constant shifts in perspective rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach. One of the central ideas in my teaching is that legendary pedagogues such as Auer, Sevcik, Galamian, and Rolland often addressed the same technical challenges through very different lenses. Auer may emphasize the 'mental ear,' Sevcik the isolation of mechanical motions, and Rolland the integration of whole-body movement.
I view the approaches of these pedagogues not as contradictory, but as complementary. Effective teaching depends on identifying the underlying cause of a student’s difficulty. Common issues such as messy shifts, inconsistent intonation, or physical tension, may require solutions rooted in listening, coordination, breathing, anatomical organization, or practice approach, depending on the student."
